Triple H and Stephanie come out and brag about Seth Rollins being what they thought he would be, and HHH says he told them Rollins was the future. Stephanie says Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose go to the back of the line, then they lift the cloth on the podium behind them and show the vacant Intercontinental Championship. Stephanie gloats about being right about Daniel Bryan, and she says the show must go on, and HHH talks about needing a durable champion. Sheamus comes out and says they don’t need an Elimination Chamber because he is a worthy champion, and he’s the guy who put Bryan on the shelf. He asks them to make him champion, but Ryback cuts him off and says Sheamus should leave little guys alone, and pick on him. Stephanie stops him and says they can both prove themselves in the Elimination Chamber, but HHH says as far as tonight, they can fight right now.
Sheamus vs Ryback
Ryback hits a Thesz press and some strikes, then he powerslams Sheamus for two and stomps him near the ropes. We get back from a break to see Ryback avoid some strikes and Ryback press slams him into the commentary table, then Ryback rolls him in and sends Sheamus to the corner. Sheamus feigns an eye injury, then he jabs Ryback in the eye and hits a Brogue Kick for the win.
Winner – Sheamus
Seth Rollins walks into the Authority’s office and gloats about winning, and pours champagne for everyone. Dean Ambrose cuts them off and says Rollins didn’t beat him last night, and lost the last time they fought. Ambrose says he will grant Rollins a rematch at Elimination Chamber for the title, but HHH says it’s up to Kane. They walk away and Kane says it’s Rollins’ decision, and Rollins says no and leaves. Ambrose calls Kane a lap dog and says he used to be a demon, but now he’s a butler, and Kane books him against Bray Wyatt tonight.
Neville comes out for an in-ring interview with Renee Young, but he gets cut off by Bo Dallas. He says Neville’s career is looking up, but he doesn’t bo-lieve that. Neville says he beat Bo to start his record breaking NXT Championship run, then Bo swings at him. Neville avoids a strike to his injured knee and throws Bo outside, then Bad News Barrett makes his entrance.
Bad News Barrett vs Neville
Wade hits Neville in the corner and stomps him, then we get back from a break to see Neville kick Wade back. Neville tries to springboard in, but his knee gives out, and Wade hits a Bullhammer to capitalize on the mishap.
Winner – Bad News Barrett
Bo runs in the ring and stomps Neville’s knee, then slams his leg on the ringpost twice and taunts the crowd.
Rusev comes out and says there is no Lana tonight, and he didn’t quit so they all should shut up. He says he beat Cena so bad he passed out, but then Lana quit because she is weak, so he calls for a rematch. Lana cuts him off and Rusev screams at her for ignoring him, but Lana says she just wants to reason with him. Lana says Rusev is misunderstood, and Lana says he screamed in Bulgarian that he quit last night. They argue a bit and he calls her a liar, then he says it’s only about him, not ‘them’, so she should just leave and screams at her.
Dean Ambrose vs Bray Wyatt
Ambrose hits Bray a few times and kicks him in the back, then Bray punches him in the corner and whips him. Ambrose knocks him outside and goes for a suicide dive, but Bray uppercuts him and hits a hanging suplex. We get back from a break to see Ambrose break a headlock and send Bray outside, then he clotheslines Bray before rolling back in. Ambrose hits a bulldog and clothesline, then he goes for a DDT but Bray shoves him. Ambrose goes for a rebound clothesline but Bray counters with a clothesline for two, then he heads up top. He goes for a middle rope senton but Ambrose avoids it, then Mercury and Noble run out to ringside. The ref gets tied up with Mercury, then Noble shoves Ambrose into Bray, who hits Sister Abigail for the win.
Winner – Bray Wyatt
BP: These guys worked well together, and they usually do. I hate to say it, but this angle in one night made more sense than their feud last year. This was more organic.
WWE Tag Team Championship
Tyson Kidd & Cesaro (w/ Natalya) vs The New Day (c)
New Day takes control early, but Kidd comes back with some strikes and a Sharpshooter on Kofi. E breaks it up and Cesaro unloads with some punches, but E throws him outside and stomps Kidd. The ref calls for the bell but Cesaro runs in and slams E down, then he goes for a giant swing but Woods runs out and attacks the challengers. They start brawling before the Lucha Dragons run out for the save, and they take the New Day out with dropkicks. Los Matadores and The Ascension are next, and they hit Kidd with Fall of Man before the Prime Time Players run out and clear the ring.
Result – No Contest
BP: This was barely a match, so I won’t rate it. Bad news (kinda) is they will cram 12 guys in the Chamber; six teams, each in the same chamber pod. Good news is Prime Time Players are back in the ring, and there are six real teams getting a title shot here. No wasted spots like “Mega Powers” in it. I can’t wait to see how they pace this one.
John Cena cuts a promo about keeping the title where it belongs, and issues his next open challenge, answered by KEVIN OWENS! Cena introduces Owens, but Owens says they know who he is, and he wants to ease Cena’s mind. He says Cena didn’t hurt Sami Zayn, he already did, and he will beat Sami for good at Takeover. Cena says he’d offer Owens some veteran advice, but Owens laughs and says he’s been doing this longer than Cena has.
Owens says Cena doesn’t say anything, so Cena says he will warn him then, and he is looking at a scared kid who will crap his pants if this goes down. Cena says if he has a problem, then Owens knows how this goes, but Owens says he already has a prize, his NXT title. He says he isn’t fighting Cena now, but when they do, it’ll be on his terms. Owens kicks Cena in the stomach and drops him with a pop-up powerbomb, then holds both titles, and drops the US Title on Cena before mocking him.
BP: This was awesome… clap clap clap clap clap. Great promo and message sent by Owens to Cena.
Dolph Ziggler vs Stardust
Stardust hits Dolph a few times, then Dolph counters Dark Matter with a kick and comes back with a Zig Zag for the win.
Winner – Dolph Ziggler
Michael Cole interviews Dolph after the match, and Dolph says if he busted himself open at Payback, he’ll do anything to win. Cole informs him he is the final competitor in the Intercontinental Championship chamber match, and Dolph is ecstatic. Lana comes out and kisses Dolph, then the crowd pops and she does it again. Rusev rushes out and attacks Dolph, and screams at Lana, but she slaps the hell out of him. He gets really angry and corners her, but Dolph drops him with a Zig Zag and leaves with her.
Luke Harper & Erick Rowan vs Fandango & Zack Ryder
Harper and Rowan attack Fandango and keep him grounded, but Fandango comes back with a tornado DDT. Zack connects with some strikes and a knee smash, then hits a dropkick and rushes the corner. Harper drops him with a swinging side slam, then he superkicks Zack into Rowan, who hits a full nelson slam for the win.
Winners – Luke Harper & Erick Rowan
Stephanie McMahon runs into the Bellas backstage, and she asks Brie to stay backstage during the Divas Championship match. They seem skeptical, but Stephanie says Brie has been affected by Daniel Bryan’s departure, and doesn’t want to be a distraction. She says it’s for the best and she doesn’t want to cost Nikki, and Nikki reluctantly heads to the ring.
Divas Championship
Naomi (w/ Tamina) vs Nikki Bella (c)
Brie connects with a few forearms and a suicide dive as we go to a break, then we get back to see Nikki set up for Rack Attack. Tamina runs in and superkicks Nikki to cause a disqualification, then Paige runs out and makes the save. Nikki gets up and sees Paige helped her, and goes to get her title, but Paige drops her with Ram-Paige and panders to the crowd with the title.
Winner (by disqualification) – Nikki Bella
Renee Young catches up with Kevin Owens outside after he is done speaking with Triple H, and announces he will fight John Cena. Owens says he just got a match against Cena at Elimination Chamber, and he will do the same to Cena as he will do to Sami Zayn on Wednesday.
The Authority is in the ring for the ‘Architect of a Dream’ ceremony, and Seth Rollins is welcomed to the ring. HHH praises Rollins for his accomplishments, then Kane is asked to speak and he says he is glad Rollins is still champion. Kane plays a highlight reel for Rollins, then they all praise him before Dean Ambrose cuts the ceremony off. Stephanie says he has some nerve, but Ambrose says he wants his title match and he won’t take no for an answer. Stephanie says he hasn’t earned anything and tells Rollins to ‘get’ Ambrose, and they end up trading punches.
J&J jump Ambrose but he fights them off and suplexes Rollins on the floor, then he whips J&J into the barricade. Ambrose whips Rollins into the commentary table while the Authority watches, then reveals he has a pile of cinder blocks under a blanket! Ambrose threatens to smash a chair over Rollins’ head, but Stephanie screams to let Rollins go, and Ambrose gets the match. Mercury sneaks over and takes the chair away, but Ambrose fights the Authority before Rollins gets away. Kane tries to chokeslam Ambrose, but Ambrose clotheslines him and calls for Dirty Deeds, then Rollins sneaks in and drops Ambrose with a Pedigree to end the show.
BP: I know there’s been a bit of criticism, but I actually like Rollins using the Pedigree for the time being. Doing that is a bit of a passing of the torch. I’ll go out on a limb and say this show was even better than the ‘Sami Zayn’ debut show a few weeks ago. It was a bit slow to start, but the majority was excellent. Lana’s turn, aligning with Ziggler, Kevin Owens showing up, and Ambrose’s involvement were great, and there were some good matches too.
